It all started with our family dog – Sasha.
In 1998, we were faced with her arthritis diagnosis and the only treatment options available at the time were nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Whilst NSAIDs can be effective in short term alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis, they have a range of potential side effects associated with chronic use, which can impact kidney and gastrointestinal function. Given that Sasha was only 11 years old, we were concerned about the long-term use of NSAIDs to manage her arthritis.
We saw the moment as an opportunity to not only support Sasha, but also countless treasured pets with joint health concerns and embarked on a search for a plant-based alternative.
With the help of contracted scientific facilities to research joint health, we created the unique, all-natural Sasha’s Blend™ from a blend of New Zealand green-lipped mussel, abalone, and marine cartilage. After significant research and subsequent field trials, Sasha’s Blend became the first Australian-developed joint health supplement to achieve veterinary registration with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) in 2001.
Since then, we have continued to expand, with an ongoing focus on research and development in the scientific field of joint health. In 2003, we discovered Epiitalis®.Now patented globally, Epiitalis® is a natural ingredient that is scientifically proven to enhance joint health in dogs and horses.
Today, we are proud to say that 4CYTE™ with Epiitalis® is the most widely used joint health supplement for animals in Australasia. We are also exceptionally excited to release this product to the USA market in 2023.
As leaders in joint health, our dedication to evolving the science of our field is ongoing. We are deeply grateful for the trust our customers place in us as we keep innovating and improving our products to better support you and your animals to lead happier, healthier and more active lives. It brings us great joy and fulfillment knowing that we are able to help owners everywhere to support the joint health of their pets and working animals.
